Andrys, to me, is someone who learned more than he ever wanted when he was faced with the family history in action. After that, he sat down with his hands over his eyes and ears. It would even be excusable if he hadn't been averse to learning new things (beyond new drugs) even before getting somewhat traumatized.

I've always considered fear the central theme of the trilogy, but by now... knowledge, or curiosity, qualify just as much.
