I kind of assumed it was a "take off without saying anything" thing. As others noted, Damien does have a touch of the old Wild West character about him. Anyway, he was on A Quest and had the Hunter standing next to him. How could that have been anything but awkward and mutually baffling?
Seriously, though, I know what you mean. It really seemed like a kind of weird moment to me--that the truth was that she always had more than a hint of the alien lurking beneath her facade, and that Damien realized he knew almost nothing about her, and that truthfully she probably understood just as little about him.
...Yeah, a scene might've been nice, now that you mention it.
