And it seems that the current attitude towards sorcery is majorly influenced by that, too - back then, they did seem to try to fight fae with fae, sorcery with sorcery, hence the bound solar fae. Seems they did allow sorcery in the service of the Church - and it failed. After that, they seem to have turned away from sorcery even more than before. Fascinating.
