I'd assume those experiments were at least in part to reassure himself that an adept can live under Earth conditions just fine.
Of course this brings up the question just how the Hunter would have dealt with interstellar travel, which tends to be exposed to quite a lot of sunshine...
I wonder whether he'd have been able to leave it all behind in the end. Sorcery was important enough for him to risk eternal damnation - would he give it up for a space trip?
I hadn't thought of it that way, but it's certainly no small thing to him.
Among the group, he's the only one who is capable of understanding what she is going through - with his little experimental fae-deaf zone, he'd understand it completely. I wonder whether she's a sign to him that at least adepts may not generally deal well with losing all fae connections. Assuming, of course, that he didn't snatch up other adepts as lab rats at some point.
