There's something I'm wondering about, concerning Gerald Tarrant.

Is he going to let go of his former lifestyle and attempt to actually be good now that his survival no longer demands that he must be evil? Killing and inspiring fear isn't necessary anymore, so he could end it and work on redemption... but would he want to? Or would he still follow his old philosophy that "evil" acts are acceptable when they mean less resistance than a more moral choice?

Personally I can't really see him change a habit of nine centuries, but there are certain things that make me wonder. He does get a fresh start, after all, so this would be the moment to change. And he already has all the sins he accumulated as the Hunter to work off. So what do you think? Is he going to change his lifestyle, or will there be no point to it from his perspective?

...I try to imagine that and all I can see is him angsting over it. And, well - what would he do? Hasn't he done everything already? >.>

I suppose he could try and build a new library, or look into old Earth sciences now that they're more viable - oh wait he'd need the library for that anyway. After all, he did manage a telescope with the fae in the way.

Well, he's never been the type to do evil for its own sake, and he'll never be the type to do good for its own sake, but he'll have no actual reason any more to do evil. Which means he'll probably still be ruthless when necessary, but I doubt he'd really consider it necessary very often. (Does that make any sense outside my head?)

I was away over the weekend and still haven't managed to fully catch up, but I'm looking forward to reading your fic later tonight!

He doesn't strike me as the lazy sort - going for the easiest solution doesn't seem to be his thing. I think he loves elegant solutions, and a sense of accomplishment. His pride in that kind of thing would probably do more to keep him from evil than his (dubious) morals.
