Wings of Wrath - new release date, and "surprise for Coldfire fans"

CS Friedman's second Magister trilogy book, Wings of Wrath apparently has been delayed until February 3rd, 2009. This time, the date is for a hardcover version, which makes considerably more sense than the paperback that floated around Amazon with a release date for July 4.

There's no confirmation of this on the official website, but there's an interesting little announcement there:

Coming soon...announcement of a surprise for Coldfire fans! (No, it's not a new novel, but it will make them very happy) Look for the news to break sometime this summer!

I haven't even read the first one yet. I get a bad feeling just from looking at the cover. You think the fae is trying to tell me something?

That graphic novel project maybe?

*grin* Might be telling you something. It's nowhere near Coldfire, but it's not bad if you ignore the Mary Sue. There's a character wandering around in there who I could swear is Gerald in disguise.

The graphic novel would be my guess too, but that one isn't exactly news anymore, is it?

The only artist I trust to draw a Coldfire manga would be the one who did Alichino. Her style is gothic and lush enough for it.

I'm going to read the new book in September or so. too busy right now. I wish I had the common sense not to buy the hardcover though.

I'll just sit back and wait, and assume that however good or bad the style will be, it's bound to have a few nice pictures.

So far I'm eager enough for the second book to get the hardcover, but I admit that I haven't re-read so far. I'll probably do it before I tackle the second one, but it's not on my list of regular comfort re-reading.

If it's the graphic novel, it won't make me very happy. (I have very little interest in that.) So I'm hoping it's something else.

Personally I'm hoping for a post-CoS short story, but that might be too optimistic.

I'm betting on a comic book adaptation as well.

ETA: the only other thing I could imagine would be a RPG WHICH WOULD ROCK MIGHTILY - however I don't think it's very likely.
