Rereading

More and more I'm realising how many details from the books I don't remember because when I reread, I tend to reread certain parts much more than others. Methinks I need to read the books again from start to finish, all the way through, without skipping ahead to the sexy parts. *g*

Of course, that would be easier if I wasn't reading alone.

And that might also make it more interesting - it'd be pretty cool if we did chapter-by-chapter discussions on this comm.

Anyone be interested in rereading with me?

[Poll #1252613]

And if you are interested, how quickly should this go? That is - one or two chapters a week? More frequently? Of course it would take us a while to get through it all that way. *g*

What do you think? Let me know!

ETA: And hey, new people could join in and read along! Here's everyone's chance to finally start reading Coldfire, if for some inexplicable reason they haven't already! So go and pimp this poll. :D

I think we should do two chapters per week, or we'll need a year per book. :-)

What might help to keep interest going is a brief summary of the chapter in the discussion post - that way people who didn't re-read that particular chapter still know where we are and can join the discussion.

I agree. Some of the chapters are pretty short (*cough*onepage*cough*), too, so even if we're busy, that wouldn't take too long to get through, you know?

I have the first book on my shelves and on my to read-list, so I might be interested. I would be a new reader.

I also love talking about books I'm reading.

I'd be game, mostly because I devoured each book at record speed and I tend to skip over the details when doing that. And I'm seriously shaky on all the non-character-focussed underlying theory :).

I'd love to do this, but unfortunately I have very little free time (actually none) to read anything other than school stuff right now. Pooh on school :(

I was just thinking it was time for a reread.

I was supposed to write the ship manifesto back in march and I definitely need to reread for that anyway

That seems like a fun idea, but alas with school I probably won't be reading anything else but admin law, patent law and federal courts. Yuck. I'd much rather be reading the Coldfire trilogy.

I'm one of those that doesn't have much time at the moment for reading anything other than books for school, but I'd definitely try and stop by to participate in the discussion anyway. I think it's a great idea.

Gawd, because of time, I'm really terrible with keeping up with book discussions. But, I love the Coldfire series so I'm going to really try. Coldfire and Carol Berg's Transformation series are two of my fav.

I've been meaning to re-read the whole series, but school always has other ideas. I'm interested, but it's really going to depend. I have 16 school books for four classes...poor Coldfire might have to take a back seat.

I said yes, because I'd definitely like to re-read and discuss the books, if time decides to let me. At this point that's a big "if", considering school and a book discussion going on in one of my other comms this fall. But I am interested, and would try to keep up as much as possible.

I'm definitely game, especially since I was planning to reread anyway. two chapters per week would be great. Three even, when we get the really short ones.

I was just thinking of re-reading the other day, but was hesitating because my schedule is pretty terrible 2-3 chapters per week will be a great compromise.

I've had three fics outlined for six months or so, but I'm always afraid that I'll miss some vague but crucial detail of the world when I write them out. This should help.

I actually started re-reading BSR, I'm about halfway through and SO in the mood to discuss it with people. (After Ciani loses her memory she whispers every third line of dialog. It's so annoying!) I can't wait till we get to the third book...
