Black Sun Rising - the big re-read
Sep. 4th, 2008 11:49 pmAfter the truly enthusiastic response to
trobadora's suggestion of a group re-reading of the trilogy, we've sat together to sort out the hows and whens.
Discussion schedule
We are aiming for two chapters per week, one on Monday and one on Thursday. In the case of shorter chapters, two or more chapters are going to be combined so we get to approximately 15-20 pages (or 30-40 pages per week). Further down you'll find the discussion schedule. We'll include a note in every post that'll let you know which chapter(s) are up next. While we're at it- if anyone has the 2006 Orbit edition and can provide the page numbers of the chapters, we'd be very grateful!
Discussion posts
For every chapter, we'll do a discussion post with a quick summary, a few core quotes, and a few thoughts and questions to get the discussions started. That way, if you can't keep up with the re-reading (or you hate that particular chapter and can't bring yourself to do it), you'll still know where we are.
We'll link all discussion posts from the discussion schedule, so if you want to go back to a particular discussion, it will be easy to find.
Spoilers
We thought a lot about this one and came to the conclusion that avoiding spoilers is going to be impossible. We don't want the discussions to be limited to only the chapters in question - you never know when the prologue might spark talk about the ending. Therefore, comments do not need to be posted with spoiler warnings.
We'll start on Monday with the prologue - come and join us!
